Ready to celebrate!
Restaurant and wellness area of the MONDI-HOLIDAY Hotel Grundlsee were extended and modernised in record time.
There was a good reason for celebrating last Friday December 19, 2008 at the MONDI-HOLIDAY Hotel Grundlsee: the modernisation and extention work started in September 2008 is concluded. The hotel is looking its best, as a top address for a stylish eating-out and an attractive venue for conferences with a state-of-the-art wellness area for guests.
About 80 MONDI-HOLIDAY employees and tradesmen who were involved in the modification - general constructor was the local firm Holzbau Köberl from Grundlsee – officiallly opened the »new« Seeblick restaurant. The new spa and wellness area was also open for use at the weekend.
Realisation with local firms
Hotel manager Franz Kromoser looked back on the taxing weeks and months during the reconstruction and was full of praise for the dedicated work all had contributed. Leonhard Dörr, CEO of the MONDI group, emphasized the solidarity with the employees of the Grundlsee hotel, some of who have been in his employ for many years. He praise was, of course, mainly directed at the local firms. »Without you«, said Dörr, »this project would never have been possible in such short time. The result speaks for itself!«
Restaurant with more seating capacity
The extended terrace, 80 sqm, of the "Seeblick" restaurant offers guests a unique mountain and lake panorama. Inside the seating capacity was increased by 6o places to 150. New is the separate »Stüberl« a cosy, snug side-room and the bar suitable for an impromptu cup of coffee during the day. The cosy atmosphere has been retained and is tangible upon entering the restaurant. The special lighting effects, installed by the Munich lighting designer, Werner Memmel, and the Altaussee electrical company "Elektro-Hentschel" can be altered to create the correct ambience through all stages of the day and evening.
Extended wellness area
The new spa and wellness area has a special ambience thanks to the skilfull lighting effects. The floor to ceiling glazing lets in natural daylight and allows an unhindered view of the water and mountains; this combined with the slick artificial lighting creates an ambient glow. The indoor pool has been complemented with a Finnish sauna, a bio sauna, with subdued temperature, a steam bath, a cardio and fitness room, an infrared cabin, an ice fountain, massage room and power showers.
This enlargement of the hotel at Grundlsee is MONDI's reaction to the growing demands of international guests. The hotel complex was developed in 1990 and with its imposing location, throned above the lake, it attracts guests from all over the globe and is well visited all year round.
